Zero's Siddharth Coutto soon on-screen

MUMBAI: Siddharth Coutto, drummer of India's most successful band 'Zero' will soon be seen in PVR pictures latest release Mere Khwabon Mein Joh Aaye. Coutto has done the background music for the film and has also composed two tracks out of ten tracks. The rest are done by Lalit of duo Jatin-Lalit.

The film is the story of a young woman from a small town who is stuck in a boring marriage. Later, a 'dream man' helps her achieve her goal of becoming a singer. The script of the film demanded a rock musician to be a part of it, that's how Coutto came in. "I did go for the auditions after I was told about the project, as far as experience in acting goes, I had done some acting during school days in plays – that's all. I think you just have to be in front of the camera and do your stuff" he says. One can't stop but wonder as to how the rock musician felt after working in a 'bollywood' film. "It's interesting – especially when somebody is paying you (laughs)."

Speaking about the films music, Coutto said, "I had done back ground score for Raat Gayi Baat Gayi before– it was an out an out 'Jazz' score. However, for Mere Khwabon Mein Joh Aaye, the arrangements are Indian and orchestral." On the two compositions he says, "Both the tracks have Hindi lyrics and though I composed the melody, I took help from my friends when it came to writing the lyrics. The script demanded a 'Rock' song so both the tracks are 'Rock'– guitars, drum n bass grooves kind".

Zero may have disbanded but Coutto definitely has not stopped working on his independent music. At present, he is working with his new band 'Tough on Tabacco' on an album which has six musicians from both Zero and Helga's Funk Castle. Coutto will be seen as vocalist for his Pop –Rock – Reggae culmination album  They have already released three tracks Concert Piano, Voices in My Head and Happy. Check it out on myspace.
