Launch of 'The Raghu Dixit Project'

MUMBAI: Music composer Vishal Dadlani will be lending his vocals for the title track of Kannada movie Superman, to be composed by Raghu Dixit. This would be Dadlani’s first brush with singing in a regional language.

Musical duo Vishal- Shekhar had last year composed for a Telugu flick Chintakayala Ravi, which created waves in the south Indian music industry.  The composers were reportedly paid the highest amount ever to the composers of a Telugu film. “We never had qualms about composing for a regional film and are working on another Telugu movie which would be launched this year,” says the composer.

Justifying Vishal as the only choice for the track, Dixit says, “I could not think of anyone else, that track needed an unheard voice in Kannada, full of energy and yet had to have the grace at places which only a versatile vocalist like Vishal could render. The track is very close to the style he sings in and the moment the number was conceived, it was his song.”

“Vishal earlier insisted that I sing the track myself and I had to remind him, ‘I am the music director’! But finally it turned out to be a kickass song and I believe no other singer would have sung it better than him.”

Narrating his experience of crooning the track, Dadlani says, “The first time I sang the track, I got the language completely wrong. I went through two sessions of three hours listening to Raghu’s scratch and then recorded the final track.”

Directed by Prabhakar, Superman by will have eight tracks, the title track is sung by Vishal apart from two tracks by Raghu himself and the rest are yet to be recorded with new voices. Raghu Dixit’s debut album in Kannada, ‘Psycho’ was well received by the music lovers and he anticipates a good response from this composition as well. “The whole sound of this album is very hard hitting and commercial, also two tracks are backed by a philharmonic orchestra with about 40 pieces from down south.”

Raghu Dixit has been long associated with Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijani who had pumped their finances for launching Raghu’s debut album, ‘The Raghu Dixit Project’ under their newly launched music label, ‘Vishal and Shekhar Music’. Talking about the future launches by the label, Dadlani adds, “We would be launching an exceptional
