Universal Music enters Malayalam music market with 'Ivan Megharoopan'

MUMBAI: Universal Music India has released their first Malayalam music album for the film ‘Ivan Megharoopan’.

The album comprising of nine songs is composed by renowned music director Sharreth and penned by ONV Kuruppu and Kavalam Narayana Panicker. Music maestros Dr KJ Yesudas, Krishna Chandran, KS Chithra, Remya Nambeesan, Mridula Varier, Shwetha Mohan, Riya Raju and Sunitha Nedungadi have rendered for the film.

Ivan Megharoopan producer Prakash Bare said, “This is a first ever malayalam feature film based on the life journey of a poet in search of his muse. The debutante director P Balachandran, who is committed to a very poetic treatment for the entire film, the quality of these songs and its visual treatment are true reflections of such an infusion of talent. I am extremely glad to join hands with Universal music, a premier firm reputed for the selection and aggressive marketing of quality music. We are also proud that Universal has selected these songs as their first on their re-entry into Malayalam film music domain after a long gap of three decades.”

The film is conceived as the life journey of laureate KP Madhavan Nair, a character inspired by the life and works of one of the most popular poets of Malayalam - Mahakavi P Kunhiraman Nair. His poetic leanings were on display at a young age, when he took to his wandering ways to satiate an intense inner hunger in search of his muse – his poetic deity.

Universal Music has plans to release the music of the film globally along with its launch in Kerala. The music label will also start artiste management for the talented singers in Kerala.
