MUMBAI: Universal Music India has acquired the rights of ‘Endless Summer’ – the official song of UEFA EURO 2012 soccer tournament.

Sung by German pop singer Oceana, the track will be played at the stadiums throughout the tournament to be held from 8 June to 1 July in Poland and Ukraine. The band will perform live in the finals to be held on 1 July at the Olympic Stadium, Kiev.

The video of the song is available on YouTube and will air exclusively on Vh1 India tomorrow.

‘Endless Summer’ will release on Universal Music India and be available in both physical and digital formats from 10 June. The physical CD single will have 11 versions of the song, including club mixes and `reggae’ versions. Digitally the song and mixes will be available on Telco’s and e-tailing sites.

Universal Music India & SAARC managing director Devraj Sanyal said, “We are proud to release the Official Song of the Euro 2012, which is such a prestigious tournament that will be followed by millions of soccer fans in India! We believe that we can do justice to the song, as we have previously demonstrated with K’naan’s ‘Wavin’ Flag’ that ended up with over half a million `caller tunes’ downloads and came to be known as the `unofficial’ anthem of the 2010 FIFA WC. ‘Endless Summer’ is another great India friendly pop song and we are confident that it will become a huge hit in India as the tournament progresses, supported by some out of the box marketing ideas that we have lined up for it.”

Oceana is currently popular in Germany and Eastern Europe and plans to release her new album "My House" in June 2012.
