Universal Music appoints Devraj Sanyal as MD

MUMBAI: Devraj Sanyal has been appointed as the managing director of Universal Music India, with effect from tomorrow, 24 June.  Sanyal will replace Rajat Kakar, who has been with the company for the past eight years.

Devraj Sanyal, will look after Universal Music India, along with operations in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The appointment was announced by Universal Music Group International regional president Vico Antippas.

Speaking on the development Devraj Sanyal said, For the past two decades, I have run successful organisations and businesses, and also been a serious musician.  I now intend to use this combined knowledge and understanding to take Universal Music India to its next level.  I am here to Change the Game....

Sanyal has been in the media and entertainment business for the past two decades, and was with Percept for the last seven years, recently holding the position - Group CEO of Percept Sports & Entertainment. He also co-founded the Asian electronic music festival Sunburn.

Vico Antippas said, India's growth and evolution as an entertainment market and source of creativity is tremendously exciting, especially for innovative thinkers and bold entrepreneurs.  Devraj is just such a person, and we're looking forward to a new era for the company under his leadership....
