U2's 360 is highest-grossing concert tour of 2011

MUMBAI: Irish rocker U2's 360 tour has emerged as the highest grossing concert of 2011 with $231 million (?144.4 million) globally.

As per the Pollstar report, the tour has earned $231.9m (?150.1m) from their 34-date �360' tour which commenced from 1 January. The Irish rockers, who also dominated �Billboard Boxscore's tally,' attracted a total of 2,387,535 fans throughout the dates.

The boy band â€?Take That' is on second position with $224 million (?140 million) from 34 appearances of 'Progress' tour. The band was also named as the highest grossing act in UK history.  The third position was garnered by Bon Jovi, whose 58-show run pulled in $148.8m (?96.3m) from 1,587,763 tickets sell.

Speaking on the next year's line up, Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni said, The touring outlook for 2012 looks positive, with reunion jaunts by the Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath and Van Halen, dates by top attractions like Madonna and Bruce Springsteen and a possible Rolling Stones 50th anniversary trek in the offing....

Other top live acts included Taylor Swift (grossing $97.7 million), Kenny Chesney ($84.6 million), Lady Gaga ($63.7 million), Elton John ($51.8 million), Sade ($48.6 million), Kanye West and Jay-Z ($48.3 million), Lil Wayne ($44.4 million) and Celine Dion ($41.2 million).
