MUMBAI: With reports of increasing consumption of music on digital platforms, social networking sites are also trying to encash on the same move. Leading social networking site Twitter has plans to release its music app for iOs devices by the end of the month.

The site acquired the music discovery service ‘We Are Hunted’ last year and is using its technology to build a standalone music app titled ‘Twitter Music’. The music discovery service will recommend tracks based on users Twitter activity, suggesting artists and songs to listen to based on a variety of signals and is personalized based on which accounts a user follows.

According to agency reports, SoundCloud will provide the streaming music while recommendation will come based on the account. It will also reportedly feature four tabs all-offering music recommendations on different criteria.

Twitter Music is stated to fiercely compete with established music services like Spotify and Pandora.
