Top Delhi bands unite for music album

New Delhi: Who says Delhi loves only Bollywood music? A new album, compiling the original works of some top bands here, is set to prove that the city loves its rock and blues too.

"Sahi Bol - The Urban Transmission" was launched at the Crowne Plaza hotel Friday night. The two-CD collection has 16 tracks, which have been performed by leading bands and musicians like Euphoria, Advaita, Them Clones, Orange Street and Arjun Sen.

"Music in India is only recognised as Bollywood music...which is not the case. This album has all original songs by top Delhi bands and shows that Indian music has much more to offer than just film songs," Mukul Kansal, general manager (business unit) of recording firm Saregama India Ltd, said at the launch Friday evening.

The launch saw five groups - Sajid Akbar, Donn Bhatt, Orange Street, Radius and Papon - belt out pulsating scores for the 100 odd music lovers - mostly youngsters - present there.

"It`s really great that Delhi is united for the cause of music," said a band member of Radius. "It is a very good thing to happen to our music. It not only provides all the bands with publicity but now our music will also be heard by a lot many people."
