Times Music unveils instrumental album `Taalworks`

MUMBAI: Times Music has released tabla artist Vineet Vyas` instrumental album Taalworks, which features North Indian tabla solo compositions with intriguing melodic textures, including Beethoven`s Moonlight Sonata and The Swan by Saint Saens.

The album presents tracks such as `In the Beginning (Uthaan)` which is inspired by the Benares Gharana of tabla playing, `Bring on the Rain` depicting the many moods of the Indian monsoon season and `Benares Dawns on Me" which depicts the clamor of street sellers, sadhus, local inhabitants and foreigners while being embraced by the underlying peace or `shanti` of the Ganga River in Benares...the arrangement itself weaves everyday commotion into a journey of the mystically profound.

Vineet Vyas is one of India`s (however he currently resides in Canada) acclaimed tabla artists, who was trained by Guru Pandit Kishan Maharaj in Benares to offer audiences a new and enchanting musical experience.

Raised in Truro, Nova Scotia, but now based in Toronto and New Delhi, Vineet was born into a family of traditional musicians of India: His grandfather, Pandit Brahmanand Vyas, was a renowned vocalist of New Delhi. Vineet began studying with Pandit Kishan Maharaj in Benares, in the traditional style of Guru-shishya parampara. After intense training and sadhana (dedication) to his guru, Vineet has firmly established himself as an accomplished tabla artist. Vineet has performed with some of India`s eminent classical artists such as us. Amjad Ali Khan, Pt Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Us.Shahid Parvez and Us. Aashish Khan just to name a few. He has been awarded scholarships from the Canadian Government in recognition of his musical talent and has been featured on CBC television and radio.
