Times Music partners Morescape records for digital reach

MUMBAI: Pioneers in spiritual music, Times Music India recently released a Bengali album, Generations: Esho Boshona, featuring the vocal talents of Antara Chowdhury, compositions by Sanjoy Chowdhury, and lyrics and compositions by the legendary composer Salil Chowdhury.

For this, Times Music has partnered with Morescape Records, a company headed by Salil Chowdhury's son and Executive Producer of the album Bobby Chowdhury. Morescape Communications provides technical and strategic consulting services to businesses for applications in e-commerce, mobile, telephony and collaboration areas including applications in the realm of web 2.0. This also includes its own independent label Morescape Records based in India and the United States.

Speaking about the tie up, Times Music CEO Adarsh Gupta says, "There is a huge market in the US among the NRI cummunity and with the physical sales collapsing worldwide, we are trying to partner with as many online music distribution partners and market our content."

This project has been in the works for some time. When approaching the project producer Bobby Chowdhury and siblings Antara and Sanjoy wanted to render the compositions of their father in their own unique style but keep in mind the originality of the songs and the timeless quality they posses. When asked about the project, Antara states, "My father Sri Salil Chowdhury's music has been an integral part of my life since childhood and I have grown up listening to my mother Smt Sabita Chowdhury singing his immortal melodies, but by the time I began to really understand his genius I had lost him!"

The 12 track album features five original compositions by Salil Chowdhury, including a special previously unreleased 'unplugged' song 'Aar Deri Neyi Ami Ashchhi' featuring Sabita Chowdhury, two of Salilda's poems voiced by the poet himself , and five new compositions by Sanjoy Chowdhury, an accomplished composer in Bollywood dubbed the 'King of Background' in the Indian film industry.

Antara notes that one among her favorite tracks on the album is the selection 'Esho Boshona,' with music composed by Sanjoy and lyrics by Salil Chowdhury. A music video for the single track has been released on YouTube earlier this year (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lgfPrVhukE).

Generations: Esho Boshona also marks the solo debut effort of Salil Chowdhury's granddaughter, Moenika, with the track 'Jodi Tumi Konodin" showcasing her talents in preview to her much anticipated EP releasing in the next few months. Moenika collaborated with the songwriting team of Antara and Sanjoy to add a different youthful flair to the album while recording the track in Bombay and Calcutta.

Moenika says, "I had so much fun recording my first single "Jodi Tumi" with my family and I think this song is really relevant in today's ever changing environment because sometimes you just have to stop and enjoy what you have and connect back with nature."

Available both in digital mp3 release from AmazonMP3 (http://www.amazon.com/mp3) and physical release from the Morescape Store (http://www.morescapestore.com), Generations: Esho Boshona features the hit single 'Esho Boshona' which debuted last year as well as new takes on Salil Chowdhury songs such as 'Oi Ghumghum Ghumonto' and 'Miti Miti Tarara.'
