Thumri Music festival on 26-28 August
MUMBAI: To bring back the golden era of lilting melodies, a three-day �Thumri Festival' organised by Sahitya Kala Parishad will be held from 26-28 August at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.
The fest will witness performances by renowned thumri artistes including Padmabhushan and Padmashree Suranjana Bose, exponent of Agra gharana Shubra Guha, Anjana Nath, Purnima Chaudhuri, Kakali Mukherjee and classical singer of the Banaras Gharana Girija Devi.
The festival plans to promote thumri music among youth and will be inaugurated by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
Programme Schedule: 26 August 2011, 6.30pm: Suranjana Bose and Shubra Guha
27 August 2011, 6.30 pm: Anjana Nath and Purnima Chaudhuri
28 August 2011, 6.30 pm: Kakali Mukherjee and Girija Devi
