The New Wave Asia Musicfest partners with Vans and Pepsi MTV Indies

MUMBAI: The New Wave Asia Musicfest is now Vans New Wave Asia Musicfest 2014. Organisers of the festival, ennui.BOMB, have partnered with shoe manufacturer company Vans, which is now The New Wave’s Presenting Partner. Moreover, Pepsi MTV Indies, the channel that promotes independent music, is officially the festival’s Associating Partner.

Both brands are acting as major sponsors for the festival that will bring Asian independent music to India for the first time. As a brand, Vans promotes youth culture and action sports lifestyle through the support of musicians, artistes and athletes on boards and bikes, all over the globe through various events.

The brain behind the festival and founder of ennui.BOMB, Rishu Singh said, “We are all very excited with this partnership and all that it is going to bring to the festival. There are going to be a lot of exciting things to look forward to.”

He added, “Vans will put up a skateboarding rink and attendees will be welcome to check out and understand skateboarding. Professional skateboarders will be present to showcase tricks and invite the festival-goers to get involved in the activity.”

Both sponsors will also have a stage each – The Vans main stage and Pepsi MTV Indies stage. Bands like Shonen Knife, Sky Rabbit, Bombay Bassment, The Supersonics, Little Fox and others, will be seen performing on the Vans stage, while the MTV Indies stage will host electro-pop acts like FuzzCulture, Your Chin, Big City Harmonics, Madboy Mink, Frame/Frame and others. The third stage is currently the ‘Stupiditties’ stage which will feature punk music and the local Goa scene with bands like Kyoto Protocol, Peter Cat Recording Co., Point Of View and many more.

A month ago, in an interview with Radioandmusic.com, Singh had said that they had been in talks with “cool, urban brands related to youth culture”. In addition to Vans and Pepsi MTV Indies, organisers are also looking at bringing one more sponsor on board for the ‘Stupiditties’ stage.

The festival, which will be held in Goa this year on 15 and 16 November, has also announced its final line-up. A total of 66 acts will be a part of the two day festival, performing across three different stages. The addition to the line-up comprises a few international acts like Little Fox (Thailand), The U93 (South Korea) and Success (France). Other major acts that will be performing at the festival are female punk rockers Shonen Knife (Japan), Kyoto Protocol (Malaysia), The Koniac Net, The Vinyl Records, Squirt Guns (Nepal), Point Of View (UAE) and many others. The entire line-up is available at the festival’s Facebook page or website.
