Taylor Swift's first single from 'Red' tops iTunes in 25 countries

MUMBAI: Grammy winning country singer Taylor Swift's recently released first single 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' from her fourth  studio album 'Red' has reached the number one spot on iTunes across 25 countries.

The highly anticipated album comprising of 16 tracks is slated to release on 22 October under Big Machine Label Group & Mercury Records.

Speaking about her album, Swift said, "I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that's fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions in retrospect, it all looks red."

The country singer will also perform at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards which is scheduled to take place on 6 September at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will also feature performance by Green Day, Alicia Keys, Pink and One Direction.

Swift is one of the top 5 selling digital music artists worldwide. The singer has already registered a career record sales in excess of 22 million albums and 50 million song downloads. Each of Swift's three studio albums has sold in excess of 5 million copies worldwide, and her most recent album, Speak Now, is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for being the 'Fastest Selling Digital album by a female artist'.
