MUMBAI: Big Digital and Veecon Music & Entertainment Pvt Ltd have launched Tagore Lounge, a new soundscape from table maestro and new-age creator Bickram Ghosh, which celebrates the music and compositions of India's legendary bard, Rabindranath Tagore in a way that they hope will  make it more accessible to a newer generation and adapt Tagore's work to the generation's comfort zone through a sound of music that is very different from earlier interpretations.

Bickram Ghosh has chosen some of Tagore's most admired songs and re-interpreted them  The music is addressed to today's youth with an injection of western orchestra tones, injecting a 60s blues atmosphere (Amaro Porano), regal grandeur (Anandadhaara) or a Sufi-like feel (Ektuku Chowa). Indian acoustic instruments like tabla, sitar and sarod have been juxtaposed with westernized strings and chords, drums, bongos etc. This is a sound where tradition and modernity co-exist effortlessly, without any compromise to the dignity of either,... says Bickram Ghosh, adding, I have tried through Tagore Lounge to create a fresh soundscape for Rabindra Sangeet which is friendly to the modern ear and yet retains an aesthetics that such an endeavour demands....
