Swarathma's vocalist Vasu Dixit to make acting debut

MUMBAI: Vasu Dixit, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Swarathma has joined the group of singers-turned actors. Talented singer who has taken theatre classes in early college days, will soon make his acting debut in Kannada film `Money, Honey, Shani'.

Multi-talented Dixit is playing the supporting actor as the close friend of the lead hero. He has shot for 12 days in breaks and admits that he was busy with the band and other commitments, but is happy that the film is completed. He is a wannabe detective who is helping the lead but ends up in funny situations.

“Films are not new to me. I was a part of the ‘Mime Ramesh of Rangayana’ theatre group from Mysore. Later, I went to learn film-making in National Institute of Design (NID),” he says.

Moreover, Dixit has also acted in an advertisement and is completely enjoying playing diverse roles. “Besides the film, I have done a commercial advertisement for a phone app in five different languages- French, Spanish, Korean, Hindi and English. I am enjoying the different roles I have taken up lately,” he adds.

Directed by Rajesh Murthy, the film also has Monish Nagaraj, Bhavana Rao, RJ Prithvi and Kanchan in lead roles. It is slated to release by end of March.

When asked about his band, he says, “Swarathma has a bigger role in my life.”

‘Topiwalleh’ was their last album and the band has plans to release an extended play (EP) next year. “It’s not easy to come up with an album every year, especially when we are putting in the money. There is no album coming  as of now. The EP would be a compilation of our acoustic songs and songs which we have done for many organizations and artistes.”

Dixit highlighted that the band is very much determined to do more shows in the rural areas.
