MUMBAI: Indian bands and artistes are taking the digital route to market themselves and go global. The latest in line are Bangalore's folk rock band Swarathma who has brought out a first ever i-phone application, as reported earlier by radioandmusic.com. The application allows fans to connect with the band, get Google Map directions to the next Swarathma performance, watch video and even play along with a song using the motion sensor feature of the iPhone. Swarathma lead guitarist Varun said, Smart phone applications that help connect with young audiences are part of the tools modern bands must use. Music and audiences are evolving and so are the ways to interact with fans.... The band is breaking new ground in India with the smart phone app. OML Digital CEO Shreyas Srinivasan who built the app says, The iPhone platform allows Swarathma a rich interface to engage with users and we think the play along feature is especially cool, adding a new dimension to concert interactivity.... This initiative, along with the active web and social network presence is adding to the global reach of the band that has recently toured the UK and Morocco. The band will celebrate its growing international niche with a live performance at the B-Flat Bar on Indiranagar 100 Feet Rd on 6 Aug 2010 from 8.30pm onwards where they will preview new songs from the upcoming album.
