Spotify introduces music app platform

MUMBAI: Online music provider Spotify is adding free apps to its service to broaden its reach and expand. The streaming site has revealed a new music app platform which will allow third-party developers to create application that will link directly to its music library.

Spotify has partnered several web and media companies including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pitchfork, Fuse, Songkick, Tunewiki and LastFm. The apps are built in HTML5 using Javascript API to avail its access across multiple platforms.

The service would provide user with specially designed applications for concert, lyrics, tickmaster and many more.

Spotify CEO and Founder Daniel Ek said, The company's goal is to edge out its streaming rivals: apps as Spotify will allow third-party developers to create apps that link to its immense music library....
