Speed Records strikes deal with UTV

MUMBAI: Punjab based independent music label Speed Records has tied up with UTV New Media to promote its upcoming albums. As part of the deal, artistes and their forthcoming albums are featured on UTV New Media's music website, utvatplay.com and promotional slots on sister UTV channels like Bindass and others.

The website allows download of ringtones, wallpapers, animations, colour logos, themes and ringback tones and is currently running a contest that gives participants a chance to meet hip hop singer Jazzy B.

Speed Records was launched in 2004 as a project by Dinesh and Ruby, supported by Sukshinder Shinda and Jazzy B. One of the landmark hits delivered by the label in 2006 was the album in collaboration with Jazzy B and A.S.Kang. Among the releases in the pipeline are are solo albums by artistes like Gurdaas Mann, Pakistani pop, bhangra and folk singer Abrar-ul-Haq, Pakistani singer Shazia Manzoor, UK based Bally Jagpal, Nachhattar Gill, Salem of Dil da mamla fame and an album titled Brown Sugar.

Speed Records Managing Director Ruby states, Our main objective is to launch quality and standardised music with the best artistes and quality available for music lovers....

The label usually signs up UK based artistes and composers to work on the production of the album with Punjabi lyrics penned by Indian writers.

Speed Records has struck a deal with Planet Records for production and distribution of their albums in the US and Canada. Confrims Ruby, Planet Records produces and distributes our albums in the US and Canada and the rights of production lie with them. This helps us to reach out to the overseas music lovers in a better way.... The Jalandhar based label has signed a similar deal with Moviebox, a record label based in the UK.

The label is mainly into artist management and hunts to launch new singers. After launching the album, we also promote the artists and their album by way of videos on TV channels, interviews in the media, posters and hoardings all over the city, floating promotional ads on our website,... says Ruby.

The songs launched by Speed Records are available for downloads on their website and also available at retails outlets in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Jaipur, Guwahati, Udaipur, Punjab, Jammu and other parts of northern India.
