Sound of India @IRF 2012 flags off; Stations and jocks can send in entries

MUMBAI: To showcase the dynamism of Indian FM Radio, Indiantelevision.com's Radioandmusic.com (RnM) has partnered with The International Radio Festival (IRF), Zurich.

With this association, Indian Radio jockeys and music show producers will get an opportunity to showcase their music radio show ‘live on air’  to an international audience in Europe. The live show will also be aired on their radio station in India. The fest is scheduled to be held from 12 -15 September 2012, in the magnificent castle Schloss Sihlberg in Zurich.

RnM and IRF have initiated a competition called ‘The Sound of India@IRF2012’ where radio stations across the country can participate with their best radio jocks and programmes. The radio stations need to enter with an hour or two long show for ‘The Sound of India@IRF 2012’ competition. Entries for the competition are free and have to be uploaded on mixcloud.com after registration with radioandmusic.com. There is no limit to the number of show entries that a radio caster can upload or the number of stations from a radio caster which can participate in ‘The Sound of India@IRF2012’.

"A team of two - a programme producer and an RJ -   will finally wing their way to Zurich," says Radioandmusic.com founder Anil Wanvari.  Adds IRF festival founder Darryl von Daniken:  "The IRF is an international radio festival and features radio jocks and producers from all over the world. Our ‘The Sound of India@IRF2012’ initiative with radioandmusic.com allows Indian radio pros to be a part of IRF and make it truly international and also showcase their best stuff."

The competition is open only for Indian Radio Stations and the last date to submit entries is Friday 20 July 2012. Entrants will be judged on how best they portray the mix of words, style, music and entertainment that radio in India has to offer on-air on a daily basis. RJs can do the talk part of their entry in full English or a combination of any Indian language with English.

The winning RJ and music producer will represent India at the International Radio Festival and get an opportunity to host their radio show live from Zurich.  The winning team will be invited to the festival with accommodation and travel being looked after by the Sound of India@IRF 2012 initiative.

The final winner from all the entries that come in will be chosen by  the IRF in partnership with the RnM team and is slated to be announced by 31 July 2012.
