Sony Music inks deal with UTV Motion Pictures

MUMBAI: Sony Music Entertainment has inked an exclusive license deal with UTV Motion Pictures for three years.

The label will look after the global distribution of songs and videos across all digital platforms for upcoming films like ‘Barfi!’, ‘Joker’, ‘Heroine’, ‘AnyBody Can Dance’ (ABCD) and ‘Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana’ (LSTCK) .

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com Sony Music Entertainment - India and Middle East president Shridhar Subramaniam said, “Our relationship with UTV Motion Pictures goes back seven years with the Iconic ‘Rang De Basanti’ and since then we have worked together on various memorable projects like ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ and most recently ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Today, we extend our relationship with a digital license for their five forthcoming movies. All of them are hugely anticipated and we are confident that the music will also be a great success as they are scored by ace composers like Amit Trivedi and Pritam, amongst others. With our exceptional past experience together, we are sure that these too will be successful.”

The music directors who have composed for these movies include Pritam (Barfi!), GV Prakash Kumar (Joker), Salim–Sulaiman (Heroine), Sachin-Jigar (ABCD) and Amit Trivedi (LSTCK). ‘Barfi!’ and ‘Heroine’ are slated to release on 14 and 21 September respectively in India and worldwide.
