Sony Music gears up with domestic, international projects

MUMBAI: Sony Music has lapped up several projects for the coming season.

Apart from the recently released music of Raajneeti and I Hate Luv Storys, the label has acquired the music rights of Anil Kapoor's home production Aisha starring Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor, the score of which has been composed by Amit Trivedi. The music of the film is slated to "release in July though the date is not finalised as yet" as revealed by Sony Music marketing director Sanujeet Bhujabal. It has also acquired the audio rights Vishesh Films' Crook starring Emraan Hashmi which is scheduled to release in August this year.

Adding to its Tamil catalog, the label has acquired "Singum starring Suriya, Aadukalam starring Dhanush, Sindubad starring Vikram and Kadhal 2 Kalyanam apart from Mani Ratnam's Raavanan," adds Bhujabal  

In Telugu, the label has acquired the music rights of Puli, starring Pawan Kalyan and Kalega starring Mahesh Babu and the Telugu version of Ratnam's Raavan, titled Villain.

Internationally, the label has array of releases lined up including some of the biggest acts of the year. The soundtrack for the new Iron Man 2 film is AC/DC, Usher's new album Raymond v Raymond, Scorpions' next new album titled Sting In The Tail, the soundtrack of Sex and the City 2, Christina Aguilera's next titled Bionic are few of the for which the label has acquired  rights. Apart from this, Listen Up! The Offical 2010 FIFA World Cup album, Sarah McLachlan Laws Of Illusion, Oasis Time Flies (1994-2009) and Ozzy Osbourne's Scream are a few of its other projects.
