Sony Music Entertainment strikes deal with Swedish Independent TEN Music Group

MUMBAI: Sony Music Entertainment and Swedish music company TEN Music Group have inked a multi-year agreement to develop new artistes under a new artist development-focused strategic relationship covering global A&R and distribution.

As per the deal, Sony Music will have exclusive first-look rights to the recordings and releases of all artists signed to TEN, and provide TEN with offices in London, Los Angeles and New York.

Sony Music Entertainment CEO Doug Morris said, “The team at TEN Music understands artist development and they have proven they know how to successfully identify talent with global appeal. We are delighted to welcome TEN to the Sony Music family as we further grow our creative business around the world.”

TEN Music Group chairman and CEO Ola Hakansson said, “We are delighted to be a part of the Sony Music family and to have the opportunity to establish the first ever Swedish record company in US.”

TEN Music Group functions primarily as a one-stop solution for artists with operations in recordings, publishing, production, studios and management all under one umbrella. The flourishing indie currently runs five recording studios in Sweden and represents Swedish acts and producers such as Icona Pop, Elliphant, Niki & The Dove, Erik Hassle, Elof Loelv and Zara Larsson amongst others.
