Sony Music condones Emraan Hashmi on Tum Mile issue

MUMBAI: Earlier this week, actor Emraan Hashmi, in his excitement, ended up revealing the first look of the film 'Tum Mile' on his Twitter account.

According to Sony Music's earlier plans, the music launch of the film was to be coincided with the music release on 17 September. Sony Music has now postponed the release to early next week.

Speaking about Sony Music's initial plans for the release, Sony Music Marketing Director Shanujeet Bhujabal says, "We were supposed to reveal the images as a part of the complete package – with some audio visuals and songs and then these images were to be a part of the presskit. After all, this is the most cleanest/ chocolate boy' Emraan has ever done which is a great deviation from his roles and looks so far. Hence it was one of the main points of focus which we wanted to leverage. This was also one of the reasons we pushed the music launch till after 15 Sept as his look was different from the Tum Mile look' till then."

It's unclear if the label will have to bear any financial losses because of the fiasco; however, Bhujabal believes that "there is a huge opportunity cost as the music launch should have ideally coincided with the music release." Ironically, Sony music are not just the official label for the film but also co-producers. The music of the film has been composed by Pritam.

"Confusions do happen with all projects and it happened during Tum Mile also. We guess what happened with Emraan is that he was thrilled with the final product and hence wanted to showcase his new look. We believe it was enthusiasm over timing issue…nothing more," said Bhujbal adding, "We do not plan any legal action against Emraan, confusions do happen and all of us have to take it in the right spirit."
