Sony Music-Balaji sign three film deal

MUMBAI: Sony Music Entertainment has inked a three film music deal with Balaji Motion Pictures. Out of the three movies, the music of two films –‘Ek Thi Dayaan’ and ‘Shootout At Wadala’ has already been released. The third film in the deal is ‘Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi’. 

Sony Music India marketing director Sanujeet Bhujabal said, “We have worked with Balaji in the past and they have always given us hits. This is our first big association with them on three prestigious projects. We are thrilled to be working with the team again and are investing all our efforts to ensure that the music reaches out to music enthusiasts.”

The music of Aman Sachdeva’s ‘Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi’ is yet to be released. The film a Delhi-based comedy, is a co-production with Bejoy Nambiar featuring newcomers being launched by Balaji. The movie is slated for a September 2013 release.

Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Tanuj Garg said, “The Sony Music team is very proactive, passionate and forward thinking, and have worked on some of the biggest Bollywood hits in recent times. We are glad to be associating with them on three important films.”

The supernatural thriller, Ek Thi Daayan’s music is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj and lyrics was penned by Gulzar. Yaaram, is the track that was appreciated amongst the rest of the tracks and was rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan and Clinton Cerejo. ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ stars Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Konkona Sensharma and Huma Qureshi, and releases worldwide on 18 April.

The soundtrack of ‘Shootout at Wadala’ has six tracks with four remixes. Anu Malik, Anand Raaj Anand, Meet Bros Anjjan and Mustafa Zahid have created a variety of tracks. ‘Shootout At Wadala’ stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Tusshar, Ronit Roy and Mahesh Manjrekar, and will release worldwide on 1 May.

In February this year, Sony music had also inked a deal with Dharma productions for three upcoming movies-Rensil D’silva’s ‘Ungli’, Punit Malhotra’s ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ and debutant Sonam Nair’s ‘Gippi’.
