Sony BMG acquires music rights of Tamil film Dhasavadhaaram

MUMBAI: Working on the regional music industry front, Sony BMG entered into the growing music market in Tamil Nadu by acquring the music rights of the Tamil film Dhasavadhaaram. The film is produced and distributed by V. Ravichandran.

With the Sony BMG's Tamil music label, Himesh Reshammiya is also marking his debut in Kollywood as the music director of the film. The music for this film is slated to be launched in the first week of March. Also in the pipeline are several non-film albums, which includes an album by Yuvan Shankar, which marks Sony BMG's foray into the as-yet unexplored Tamil Pop and non-film music space.

Oscar Films' V Ravichandran said, "Dhasavadhaaram is getting ready for a worldwide solo release on 10 April. It will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously, the number of prints and publicity campaign are being worked out."

Sony BMG India MD Shridhar Subramaniam adds, "It is a privilege for us to enter the Tamil music market with a project as grand and special as Dhasavadhaaram. Dhasavadhaaram is a very special beginning to the things to come and it shows our commitment to be a serious long term player in this market. "

Dhasavadhaaram features Kamal Hassan in ten different roles and actress Asin's dual role in the movie. Mallika Sherawat dons an altogether different cap in this movie. She appears as a CIA agent along with Jayapradha.
