MUMBAI: Music website Songs.pk which was banned last month by the Calcutta High Court, has been re-launched with a different domain name ‘Songspk.pk’.

The records show that Sushant Mangat is the domain owner of songspk.pk, the same person who also registered songs.pk. The domain was registered on 2 February 2009. Songs.pk has played smartly by just moving the site to a different name, circumventing the Court order.

As per the petition filled by Sagarika Music Pvt Ltd before the high court on 27 Jan, all ISP’s were directed to block access to the website by DNS name blocking, IP address blocking via routers and DPI based URL blocking. Phonographic Performance Ltd, The Indian Music Industry and Sagarika Music Pvt Ltd were seeking a restraint on internet access to download, stream, disseminate, and reproduce copyright music on this site.
