Slumdog music nominated for World Soundtrack Award

MUMBAI: 'Slumdog Millionaire' has not yet ended its award winning spree.

After eight Academy awards and four Golden Globes, the Mumbai based
film is leading the nominations for the 9th World Soundtrack Awards. At the
9th World Soundtrack Awards, composer A R Rahman, has collected three
more nominations at the World Soundtrack Awards, reports Variety magazine
online.

The celebrated composer has already won two Oscars for his work in the
Danny Boyle-directed 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

The rag-to-riches films soundtrack has been nominated for three categories
'Best Original Score of the Year'in which it will compete with 'Burn After Reading'
and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' among others. The other two categories
are for 'Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film'. While it collects the
most number of nominations for the awards held annually in Ghent, Belgium,
Rahman has missed out on the list of 'Film Composer of the Year'.

The winners of 2009 World Soundtrack Awards will be announced at the closing
ceremony of this year's Ghent International Film Festival on October 17.

The event will feature performances by composers Alexandre Desplat and
Marvin Hamlisch, who are the recipients of the World Soundtrack Lifetime
Achievement Award.
