Skid Row to headline at IIT Kharagpur, Chennai

MUMBAI: While Mumbai's IIT's has gained a reputation for hosting some of the biggest and the best international live acts (Mood Indigo), IIT Kharagpur (Spring Fest) and IIT Chennai (Saarang) are not far behind.

IIT Kharagpur would be playing host to the internationally acclaimed metal band Skid Row for their first performance in India as part of Spring Fest on 23 January at Jnan Ghosh Stadium. While IIT Madras (Chennai) will also be host Skid Row at the Open Air Theatre on January 25 along with Swedish heavy metal band-Hammerfall. Not long back, IIT Mumbai had hosted British progressive rock act Porcupine Tree at Mood Indigo  

Formed in New Jersey (1986), Skid Row is an American heavy metal band named after Phil Lynott and Gary Moore's first band. They were most successful in the late 1980s and early 1990s when their first two albums with lead singer Sebastian Bach and drummer Rob Affuso were multi-platinum successes. Their current line-up consists of Johnny Solinger (vocals), Dave "The Snake" Sabo (guitar), Scotti Hill (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass) and Dave Gara (drums). As of the end of 1996 the band has sold 20 million albums worldwide.

This will be Skid Row's first performance in India and around 30,000 head bangers are expected to attend the event  A multi-platinum act, Skid Row has performed with rock behemoths including Guns N' Roses, KISS, Def Leppard and Aerosmith to name a few.

January 25 - Saarang 2010, Open Air Theatre, IIT Madras, Chennai.
