MUMBAI: Renowned singer/composer Shankar Mahadevan’s son Siddharth has composed a single for acclaimed film maker Deepa Mehta’s upcoming film ‘Midnight’s Children’.

The 19-year-old singer has combined three national anthems for the track, which he has composed along with his cousin Soumil Shringarpure, an agency report said.

"I and Soumil have produced a track for director Deepa Mehta's upcoming film. She approached us from Toronto via email and we still interact through the same medium. It was a good experience," Mahadevan confirmed.

Mahadevan - Shringarpure have earlier composed five tracks and background score for Marathi film ‘Swapna Tuzha Aani Mazha’.

Talented Mahadevan has also been nominated for GIMA (Global Indian Music Awards) 2012 alongside younger brother Shivam for 'Ganaraj Adhiraj' album directed by Gulraj Singh.

"The album is about Lord Ganesha. It is a modern take on Ganesh vandana. Lyricist Manoj Yadav and Gulraj Singh have worked together as a team for over seven years and this album is very soulful. Dad (Shankar) told us about our nomination and he is very proud. It has given us a huge sense of responsibility and from here on, both Shivam and I want to go forward," he said.

Midnight's Children is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie's 1981 novel of the same name. Written and directed by Deepa Mehta, the film features Shriya Saran, Satya Bhabha, Siddharth Narayan, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Samrat Chakrabarti, Rahul Bose, Soha Ali Khan, Anita Majumdar and Darsheel Safary. It is scheduled to release on 26 October 2012.
