MUMBAI: Singer and composer Shibani Kashyap has regaled audiences over the years with numbers like ‘Sajna Aa Bhi Jaa’ and ‘Zinda Hoon Main’. The songstress is now poised to churn similar magic through her next bollywood flicks ‘Diary of a Butterfly’ and ‘Shobana 7 Nights’.

The pop singer has ventured away from her forte of soulful, deep and dark songs with the movie ‘Diary of a Butterfly’. Speaking about her experiences on composing songs of various styles like 80’s retro, vintage and peppy Kashyap said, “The music of ‘Diary of a Butterfly’ is special, as for the first time I have composed out of my forte. It was a great learning experience for me.”

The singer will promote her compositions through seven-city tour in Aurangabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bangalore and Pune. Apart from that she will also be visiting Nepal and Dubai for a concert.

The singer has also crooned theme song for Sudipto Chattopadhyaya’s upcoming film ‘Shobana 7 Nights’ produced by SS Arts starring Raveena Tandon and Rohit Roy. “The theme song is called ‘Aazaad Karo- Set me Free’. There will be two versions of the song, an unplugged version for the film and a club version for promotions,” she added.

Apart from Hindi music, the singer has also crooned ‘Bonds Apart’ in French for an international film ‘Walk Away’. She recently composed and voiced the title track of another international movie ‘Love Wrinkle Free’.

The songstress is also producing two albums, first up is her solo album revolving around different memories which will be released digitally and on radio with Big FM in March-April. Apart from that, her next venture is an album with her band Sojourn. Kashyap stated, “I’m working on the band’s self-titled album which will feature soulful organic music of pop, jazz and rock genre. The track ‘Don’t stop the music’ penned by me is currently under production and the album will release by this year.”

Diversifying her work, the composer has also explored regional film music by crooning for a Bengali film ‘Pa Ma Ga Re Sa’ and a recent item song called ‘Garam Masala’ for the Kannada film ‘Tipu’.

Packing in her schedule for this year, the popstar will be performing at a webcert organized by artistaloud.com at Rangsharda in March followed by the Montreal Jazz Festival with Sojourn in June-July. Apart from that a concert at Stockholm and several college
