MUMBAI: After enriching music lovers with series of compilations, Shemaroo has recently released ‘101 Duets of Lata Mangeshkar’. The 3DVD song compilation includes Nightingale’s melodious duets from over five decades.
Several singers have had the privilege of sharing the microphone with Mangeshkar but her duets with Mohd. Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore have been the most popular. The compilation comprises of duets with the triumvirate and songs from movies like Awara and Madhumati in the golden 50s to Sanam Bewafaa , Henna and Parampara in the 90s.
Shabbir Kumar was first noted for the duet with Lata Mangeshkar – “Shaam Hai Ye Kuch Khoyee Khoyee” from Prem Tapasya, which is included in the compilation. The music lover is also treated with Mangeshkar’s duets with Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood, Mahendra Kapoor on the one hand and with Amit Kumar, Bhupendra and Suresh Wadkar on the other. Another noteworthy feature is the inclusion of Mangeshkar’s duets with other female singers like Asha Bhosle and Shamshad Begum.
