Shankar Mahadevan to perform classical concert

MUMBAI: Renowned for his enchanting Bollywood chartbusters, versatile singer Shankar Mahadevan is all set to perform a classical concert ‘Shyam Rang’ on 8 August at Tata Theatre NCPA in Mumbai.

The singer who has been trained in Carnatic music by T Balamani will perform a bouquet of musical forms at the concert. The event to be hosted two days before Janmashtami festival will witness warm and poignant devotional compositions. Organized in collaboration with Sahachari foundation events, the specially–designed thematic concert will draw inspiration from traditional and contemporary literatures and poetries based on Krishna.

Mahadevan is one of the well-trained and creative musicians with diverse exposure and exceptional talent. He has teamed up with several musicians, including Zakir Hussain, Sivamani, Louis Banks and Taufiq Qureshi for performances around the world. Mahadevan, who has  been trained in Hindustani semi-classical music by Tara Devi and Bhavgeet by Srinivas Khale, is also a keen aficionado of Rock and Pop. His innovations reflect a range of influences from the East and West.
