Shaheen Jehani quits Music Today

MUMBAI: Shaheen Jehani, head, Events & Business Development at Music Today, the music division of the India Today Group, has put in her papers.

6 August will be Jehani's last day at the company. Jehani has decided to move on and start an independent company, SSquare Events. She says, "There seems to be considerable scope for creative curating and marketing of events and ideas. My vision for my new venture therefore, is to bring together enlightened discerning corporate support and patronage for uniquely and professionally curated inter-disciplinary events spanning diverse genres of music, visual arts and theatre. "

Associated with Music Today for over six years, Shaheen started her career in 2002 with music sales- covering corporate sales and key accounts including Rhythm House and the Planet M chain of stores.

From 2003 to 2005, she headed the marketing and promotions of non film and film albums such as Ishqa-Ishqa:Rekha Bhardwaj, Vishal Bharadwaj's Maqbool, Tera Ishq -Uttam Singh and Hans Raj Hans, and the feature film Khosla Ka Ghosla.

From 2005 to 2007, Jehani was closely involved with the digital promotion and sales - online and mobile media, for the company.

From 2006 to 2008, She initiated the events wing of Music Today, conceiving and producing events primarily catering to the corporate segment with artistes including Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty,Shubha Mudgal, Dr L Subramanium, Kavita Krisnamurti, Hans Raj Hans,Shobana, Sivamani, Taufiq Qureshi,Rahul Sharma, Amaan Ali Khan, Ayaan Ali Khan, Rakesh Chaurasia, T.M.Krishna, Ganesh , Kumaresh and U Rajesh, among others.

Jehani's resignation comes barely three months after managing director Gurmeet Singh put in his papers, to join Rajshri Media as CEO. Mala Sekhri, publishing director of magazines like Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping, took over from Singh in June. Soon after, Music Today's assistant marketing manager Roli Chaturvedi quit the company on 30 June 2008 and followed Singh to Rajshri, joining the company as marketing manager.
