Saregama launches Supawoman Hard Kaur in India

MUMBAI: Saregama India has launched India`s first female hip hop artiste Hard Kaur`s new album, Supawoman.

Supawoman, HardKaur`s first solo record, is the culmination of her one year of recordings with international producers including 45 WAX, D-Boy, Urban, AC Burrell, Asif [Fusing Naked Beats] and Tigerstyle. It is a combination of club bangers, hip hop tracks, love songs and more, with a dash of Indian flavour. The album is supported by three videos, `Look For Me`, `Mumbai Deewana` directed by Sumit Dutt of Mise En Scene and `My Girls` featuring popular TV star Meera Sayal of `Kumar`s At No. 42` fame. The album was preceded by a four track EP released in the UK.

HardKaur, female rapper and urban desi UK hip hop artiste, hails from Birmingham City, has worked on her music independently and also featured on global club hits including `Ek Glassy` which is still the number one club anthem of India. Supawoman will be marketed aggressively to western audiences across the UK and Europe by Saregama. Television channels like MTV Base and Musflash have already added the `Look For Me` video to their playlists. In the UK, the focus will also be on radio stations like Kiss FM and Radio One, apart from promotion on the Asian media platforms.

HardKaur - alias Taran Kaur Dhillon was born in India and moved to England in 1991, today, she is England`s first Brit Asian female rapper. Her fiercely distinctive style mingles hip hop with strains of Bollywood, soul and dance music. She is one of the most popular artistes in the UK. Her songs deal with being female in a male-dominated world as well as combined with the whole urban desi experience. She is associated with Breakthrough, an organisation working on HIV and domestic violence, and has written a song for women`s empowerment.
