Saregama launches Rahat's Charkha in India

MUMBAI: Saregama India has launched Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's first solo album, Charkha, in India.

The album was unveiled by Harsh Goenka at a function in Mumbai on Wednesday, following which Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan enthralled the audiences with a live performance.

Charkha is an authentic Sufi lounge album with compositions of Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's grandfather. This is the first ever solo album by Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to be released in India. The tunes of the album are traditional arranged in lounge music while the music is composed by Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan with a blend of Urdu and Punjabi lyrics. The lyrics of this melodies album are penned by Bullay Shah, Ahmed Anis, Anwar Jogi, and Shah Hussen.

Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan born in 1974 at Faisalabad, Pakistan, in the lineage of Sufi music and was tutored by his uncle Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the art of classical music. An extremely gifted child, he started training in music when he was just 7 years of age. Under the guidance of his illustrious uncle he went on to do his first stage performance at the age of 11 and since then has never looked back.

Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has received many nominations and awards in India for his soulful music.
