Saregama India launches internet radio service

MUMBAI: With music consumption on digital platforms gaining tract, most labels are aiming to create innovations to gain from the space. Leading music label Saregama India has also gone down the route by recently launching an internet radio streaming service on its portal.

The radio streaming service will offer a wide range of genres from its catalogue which includes Malayalam, Punjabi folk music, instrumental tracks, Marathi, Carnatic, Hindustani classical, Bengali Rabindra Sangeet and film hits, Tamil film, Telugu and devotional tracks and Hindi film classics.

Speaking about the service with Radioandmusic.com, Saregama India business head music Adarsh Gupta said, “The internet radio service is just an additional feature we have recently added on our portal. We have just taken the music from our catalogue and made it accessible to users as a streaming service.”

The artistes featured include Lata Mangeshkar, SD Burman, Mohd Rafi, Anand Bakshi, Mukesh, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Sahir Ludhianvi, RD Burman, Shankar Jaikishan, Kishore Kumar, Kalyanji Anandji, Manna Dey, Bappi Lahiri, Asha Bhosle, Rabindranath Tagore, Bhupen Hazarika, S P Balasubramanyam, K J Yesudas and more.

Currently boasting of an ad free space, the service follows a free subscription based model for users.
