Saregama announces reality TV show for kids

MUMBAI: After launching its WAP site recently, music label Saregama India announced the launch of their new talent hunt for childrens on NDTV Imagine staring from 1 May 2010

The 13-episode TV reality show titled "Sunfeast Dream Cream Junior Star Super Singer" aims to find talent for their album 'RhymeSkool with Katrina Vol. 1' on which Katrina Kaif will play the narrator, and feature in a video with the winners.

On being questioned why the label was venturing into the  reality show space, Saregama MD Apurv Nagpal reasoned, "It's not that we are getting into reality shows. Since we had a very unique product (Rhymeskool with Katrina Kaif') we felt that it was relevant to have a talent hunt for it - we also wanted to give a fresh interpretation to nursery rhymes," he said.

Interestingly, the album will be supervised by A R Rahman while students from his Chennai based music school K.M Conservatory will be working on the album

The initial screening of contestants was done through voice samples on the Saregama IVR and on ground auditions. Later, experts shortlisted sixteen boys and girls to take part in the televised singing program. A series of elimination rounds will take four singers to the final episode in which one girl and one boy will be chosen. The show will be judged by singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy and percussionist Bickram Ghosh

The series culminates with the release of the audio CD and the animated home video of RhymeSkool with Katrina Vol 1 at a televised function with A R Rahman and Katrina Kaif.
