Samsung to launch more music phones

Mumbai: Samsung Electronics has unveiled a fresh line-up of three new cell phones that are targeted at music lovers in Europe. The SGH-i450, SGH-F330 and SGH-F210 are aimed at the same market that rival Sony Corp has had success in with its Walkman music handsets.

The high-end SGH-i450 has an amplifier developed by audio specialists Bang & Olufsen. It runs the Symbian S60 platform and features a dual-slider design: slide up and the smartphone features are activated, slide down and the music player functions appear on the 2.4-inch display. For a dedicated music phone, the handset doesn?‹?“t come with much memory, but does include an expandable Micro SD card slot. The SGH-i450 is designed to run on WCDMA networks and supports HSDPA. It will be available in Italy first, with other European countries to follow, for a retail-before-subsidy price of $508.

Next up is the SGH-F330, also an HSDPA slider-handset, which includes a 2-megapixel camera and the expandable memory card slot. It will be available in Germany before other European countries and retails for around $368.Third one is the SGH-F210. It features a swivel design, includes FM radio and 1 GB of memory. It also comes with the expandable memory card slot. This slim handset is only 31mm wide and 21mm thick. It, too, will be launched in Germany first, with other European countries to follow, retailing for around $396.

Samsung has not made any announcements about launching these handsets in markets other than Europe.
