MUMBAI: A great push for music enthusiasts and singer-songwriters starts this week in Mumbai.

Music magazine Rolling Stone India is coming up with two distinct music events for the musically keen audience – Tuborg Acoustic Adventure series, which as the name suggest will be for those who love acoustic music and Beat Sessions – a free indie music listening session hosted by Luke Kenny and indiecision.com founder Arjun S Ravi. The two events kickstart back to back starting 16 September 2009.

Speaking about Tuborg Acoustic Adventure, Uday Benegal, the host and initiator of this particular series says, "Our idea to start this series was to bring forth the singer-songwriter talent which the scene has been missing out on."

Benegal himself has been a part of a rock acts (Indus Creed, Alms for Shanti) for several years, but acoustic music for him, has always been special. The event will also introduce Benegal's new acoustic band Whirling Kalapas.

Acoustic Adventures will give an opportunity to two upcoming bands/artistes chosen for their musical ability and range, "Any new artiste performing at Acoustic Adventures, needless to say, will be the best," says Uday, who will himself shortlist the acts, "My role in this is largely to discover talent," Benegal accentuates. Besides hosting, he will also be seen performing occasionally with his acoustic band.

The first concert will see Pune based singer-songwriter Gowri, and Mumbai based Nikhil D'souza (Sutasi finalist) perform. "I don't mind even rock bands that are willing to perform acoustic sets come over," he says. The first two shows will happen in Mumbai, and the series will then move to other cities.

Tuborg Acoustic Adventure will be hosted once in a month, Though the live situation is much better now, it also needs to be a little organized,... Benegal adds
