Rockstar Concert: Rahman brings the house down

MUMBAI: Blocked traffic, growing excitement and screaming fans, such was the ambiance of Bhavan's College ground, where more than 1000 fans assembled to witness music maestro AR Rahman performing live-in concert.

Even though the 'Rockstar Concert' was meant to be a promotional stint for the maestro's upcoming flick, the built-up nowhere resembled a promotional activity; instead it depicted the aura of an international gig.

Accompained by the Rockstar team; Ranbir Kapoor, Mohit Chauhan, Harshadeep Kaur, Nargis Fakhri and others, the concert was a spectacular show combined with film trailers, movie-sequences and many more circus-esque stage antics.

The concert kicked-off with Ranbir Kapoor's rendition of Rumi's poem Meeting Place' which ultimately led to the opening track of the concert Phir se ud chala' vocal sensationally by Mohit Chahuhan. Enthused crowd was further taken to Jordan Journey with the slow track Aur ho' merged with the enactement of movie sequence by Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri. The instrumental tracks Tango for Taj' and The dichotomy of fame' and Harshadeep Kaur's Katiya Karun grooved audience through their fusion beats.

The shows' highlight was the soulful performance of Rahman's â€?Kun Faya Kun' coalesced peaceful with the sufi-kalam stage d?©cor. The serene performance left Mumbaities spellbound and immediately arose to a different high as the soft Sufi rock was followed by â€?Nadan Parindey', where Sivamani and Ranjit barot's fusion left the stage tinted with the screams of once more.

The maestro with Ranbir and Mohit awed the crowd with their ground-breaking performance of 'Jo Bhi Main' which jelled with the Mumbaities chorused Ya-Ya-Ya. The concert had a glitch with the piano section which was overtaken as Rahman used the spare time to converse with audience. The glitch was soon forgotten as Mohit and Rahman performed one of the best track of album Tum ho,' which produced romantic aura all over the arena.

As the fans were totally charged up, the concert headed to its finale with the electrifying song Sadda Haq'. The hair down performance instantly got united with the Led light show, confettis and fireworks. The performance rocked the whole arena and brought the house down with Mumbaities applauding, grooving and echoing the chorus.

The concert was simply perfect and left audience with nothing but great memories and awe struck performance by every artistes. After witnessing the concert, I don't think one needs any explanations on why 'Rahman Rocks' and will be inadequate to use adjectives to describe his compositions or the maestro. One can just say that Rahman and his team brought the house down…
