Rihanna, Drake lead MTV Video Music Awards nominees
MUMBAI: R&B singer Rihanna and rapper Drake have bagged five nominations each at the MTV Video Music Awards to be held on 6 September at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Rihanna has received nods for Video of the Year (We Found Love), Best Female Video (We Found Love), Best Pop Video (We Found Love), Best Choreography (Where Have You Been) and Best Visual Effects (Where Have You Been).
Rapper Drake also bagged five nominations for Video of the Year (Take Care), Best Hip-Hop Video (HYFR), Best Male Video (Take Care), Best Art Direction (Take Care) and Best Cinematography (Take Care).
Last year’s big winner Katy Perry followed up with four nods for Video of the Year (Wide Awake), Best Female Video (Part of Me), Best Art Direction (Wide Awake) and Best Visual Effects (Wide Awake).
Other major nominees include Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Usher, Beyonce, Frank Ocean and One Direction amongst others. Viewers can also vote for their favourite artistes in categories including Video of the Year, Best New Artist and more by visiting the official website. The last date for voting for all categories except Best New Artist is 24 August. The Best New Artist category nominations will be open till 6 September.
The event will also feature performances by four-time MTV award winner Alicia Keys, One Direction and more.
