Resul Pookutty to be on Academy jury

MUMBAI: After winning laurels at the Oscars and BAFTA, sound engineer Resul Pookutty has now been invited to be a part of the voting member of the Academy of Motion Pictures.

Pookutty is one among the 134 privileged artists who have received an invitation to join the Oscar ballot. Some of the other big names who are part of this elite 6000 member group include Hollywood actors Will Smith, Jack Nicholson, Quentin Tarantino and Indian celebrities like Mira Nair. Indian Music composer A R Rahman was bestowed with the honour earlier this year.

Pookutty will be a part of the elite 6000 member organisation that chooses the winners of the most prestigious awards in the world of cinema, the Oscars.

"I received the invitation to become a member of the Academy while I was still in India. You need the sponsorship of two governors from the Board to become a member. Those formalities were completed during my recent trip to Los Angeles. I consider it a great honour and am thrilled," said Pookutty.
