Remo to score for Hindi film Go Goa

MUMBAI: Popular pop artiste Remo Fernandes resurfaced on the music circuit with his single India, I cry' which saw its release last year on the web over a social networking site as reported earlier by radioandmusic.com.

Says the Goa headquartered singer, "The response online was tremendous. I started with zero friends on Facebook in June 2009, and before six months, I had reached the Facebook limit of 5,000 friends. I believe most of them joined because India, I Cry... started going around the world through the Net. I'm now forced to start a Fan Page, which has unlimited membership, although I prefer to think of people as friends (not fans) of my music."

"The song is especially very popular in Goa and the local music channels and radio stations are also playing it," he adds.

The musician who is not very regular on the Bollywood music circuit has recently signed a Hindi film called Go Goa... as its music director. "The film's director is Sunil Khosla, and the shooting should start in a few months. I'm going to start work on the music score by end January," he says. The album will have five songs and the singer will be heard crooning for the album too, apart from composing the music.

Talking about his future projects, Remo says, "I only compose, record and release my own tracks as and when I feel inspired to create one – I have no compulsions or deadlines, as I am my own record company. But as this year I'm going to be very busy with the sound track of Go Goa..., my own songs might take a back seat for a while."

After releasing his track in the digital form, the singer cum music director plans to explore the medium further. "I intend releasing all my personal music through the digital domain only in future, unless a really good record company comes up and proves that they will do an excellent job of promoting and distributing it," he quips.
