Remo re-mastering 'Goans' Crazy' new technology

MUMBAI: Goa’s multi-talented music artist Remo Fernandes is reworking on his highly anticipated album ‘Goan Crazy’ for music lovers of the new millennium.

Recorded three decades back in the 80’s using a four-track cassette TEAC Portastudio recorder in his home, Fernandes feels that while his tunes will stand the test of time, his work could do with a little technological tweak.

Aware of the expectations of his legions of fans, not only in home turf of Goa and India, but around the world. With the re-mastering, Fernandes wants to make sure the album meets the expectations of both old fans and new listeners.

Fernandes feels that the sounds created in 80’s don’t suit today's standards.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, singer Remo Fernandes said, “The album will have same 12 tracks but the sounds will be made to suit today’s digital technology. It needs a new sound to match the expectations of the digital era.”

Fernandes, whose musical influence range from a very Western Classical to Gregorian Chants to Blues to Brazilian to Asa to 70s’ rock to Jazz to Latin to Beatles to Infected Mushrooms to Assamese Folk to Baul to Sphongle and Portuguese is well aware of new-age music and need for quality work for fans.

Even today, my message and my appeal remain the same: for originality, for individuality. If an artist doesn't have these two qualities, he is a good photocopying machine at best, he had told Radioandmusic.com in an earlier interview.

“When I created my first album that time the equipment were limited and my knowledge about the equipment was also limited due to which the audio quality is poor. In today’s digital era, sound equipment has improved sound quality so I decided to re-mix and re-master my album. I wish to leave behind the poor sound quality and create my album with quality sound,” he explained.

The tracks in the album are the absolute favorite of Goans across the world who might be disappointed with a dated albeit retro sound of their star.

Fernandes himself has been busy, immersing himself with projects including film soundtracks. He had given an upbeat dance number to the title track of the upcoming romantic film ‘Luv U Soniyo’ (directed by directed by Joe Rajan). The music of the film was out on 6 July.
