Red FM`s `Machharon Ki Bajaao` drives mosquitoes out

MUMBAI: Red 93.5 FM, Mumbai has launched a cleanliness initiative `Machharon Ki Bajaao`, to rid the city of mosquitoes that cause malaria, chikungunya, dengue and other water borne diseases. In association with Pest Control India (PCI), Red FM RJ along with a Red FM team will visit some areas of Mumbai to clean the breeding place of mosquito and create awareness on how citizens can play their part by observing cleanliness and hygiene.

RJ Malishka in the show Morning No.1 has been inviting citizens across the city to send in an SMS to inform the station if their locality needs riddance from the mosquito menace.

As a part of the drive, RJ Malishka visited Dhobi Talao, a locality in Mumbai today. The Red FM morning team also put together a street play which aimed to educate people on the dangers of mosquitoes and the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.

Red FM COO Abraham Thomas said, "As part of its responsibility towards society Red FM has been involved in numerous activities that will positively impact the lives of Mumbaikars. With onset of monsoons, diseases like Malaria and Chikungunya are making headlines across the country and Red FM`s Morning No 1 team instantly decided to pick up the issue and spread awareness on the same.""We have been involved in several anti-mosquito projects, some even covering entire cities, but such activities can only gain ground if there is a true mass medium partnering us in delivering the message to all and sundry. So when Red FM contacted us for this unique initiative, we readily agreed.

"The reach of Red FM and especially the tagline `Bajaate Raho` has become a household name, so people would easily relate to this while they would get valuable tips on mosquito management which is an otherwise mundane topic", said PCI GM marketing, product development and CRM Nikhil Chatterjee.
