Red FM fights against crime in NCR, salutes bravehearts

NEW DELHI: In a unique foray, Red FM has commenced a series to pay tributes to those who successfully fought criminals to protect themselves and their dear ones in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

As reported by Radioandmusic.com earlier, the objective of the ‘Crime Ki Keh Ke Lenge’ campaign is to make more people aware of their social responsibilities. RJs Peeyuush and Swati talk to different bravehearts who come to the studios every morning and relate their stories.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com Red FM 93.5 Network senior VP- projects and programming Nisha Narayanan siaid, "Red FM, has always believed in localization of content. Issues related to the city are what will always be reflected in the programming content.Looking at the increasing rate of crime in the capital, Red FM Delhi has taken the issue of crime more pro-actively and aggressively.After extensive research, the campaign clearly focuses on some very brave and inspiring people who fought crime, setting an example to all of us by their act. We have been receiving phenomenal response from listeners on this campaign."

The shows airs from 6 -11 am every morning and around 15 stories are aired in the series currently. The aim of the show was to spread awareness that there were crime fighters among the citizens who were not happy at their city being dubbed as the ‘Crime Capital of the Country’.

Describing Red FM as the ‘station of expression’, Peeyuush added that it was necessary to ensure that people do not always see only the negative side of things around them. RJ Swati said that the Delhi Police had helped in the research to identify people whose stories were worth telling, adding that it should be clear to citizens that the police alone could not fight this menace. The programme started after a three-week promotion, but the research had taken much longer, she added.

The programme this morning featured a woman who had fought back two persons on a motor cycle who had attempt to take away her necklace and earrings She had been shot at, but did not let go of the thief.

Other stories covered by the station include about a 35-year old Shalini Tomar from Faridabad who saw someone luring her eight-year old daughter into a car and followed the vehicle with her three-year old son standing in front. She saved the life of her daughter single-handily. Forty-two year old Dr.Chiro Mitro from Gurgaon stood up against child labour when he found an eight-year old child labourer Usman being ill-treated by his neighbours and even shot a video which he gave to NGO Childline which saved the child. Ten-year old Mehul from Gulmohar Park in south Delhi managed to free himself and then called the police when robbers entered his house and tied him up. A 24-year cab driver in Gurgaon followed a car with five goons who had kidnapped four girls, was beaten up, but still managed to alert the police and the girls were rescued.
