Ranbir Kapoor sings for Barfi's promo song

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has lent his voice to a promotional song for his upcoming film ‘Barfi’, which is set to release on 14 September.

Though the song ‘Fatafati’ (Phataphati), which means awesome in Bengali, will not be a part of the film, it will be available on the Internet. The film’s director Anurag Basu and music director Pritam have lent their voices for the track. The song’s opening lines are in Bengali, while the rest of the song is in Hindi.

Interestingly, Kapoor plays a deaf-mute person in Barfi which also features Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz.

“It is not a part of the film and it was recorded impromptu. However, as we had already recorded the song and shot the video, we decided to release it at a later stage. We are releasing this song online and on TV, It will not be in the film. It's a fun song that we wanted the people to see and enjoy," Basu told a news agency.

With Fatafati, Kapoor joins the club of actors who have sung for their films, which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Neil Nitin Mukesh, amongst others.
