Rajeev Sogani joins Pen Audio as business head

MUMBAI: After quitting Tips as the Senior VP- Music division in June, Rajeev Sogani has joined music label Pen Audio as its business head this week.

Pen Audio has been off the country's music radar for the last few years and Sogani's brief is to revive the music label. Says Sogani, My priority at Pen Audio would be forming a core audio department and concentrating on acquiring Bollywood and pop music. Also, as Pen Audio has not ventured in the regional markets, we would be acquiring some music in the regional belts too.... Geared with Sogani's experience in the music industry, the low profile music label plans to scout and sign new artistes.

Adds Sogani, This is the right time that I have joined hands with a music label as the global downturn is a challenge to the music industry....

Sogani's appointment was announced at the music release of Pen Audio's latest Bollywood acquisition- Satish Kaushik's Teree Sang' in Delhi. The music was unveiled by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit, Rajya Sabha member Rajiv Shukla and others.

Apart from the music acquisition of Teree Sang', Pen Audio has also acquired music of N Chandra's forthcoming film and a film with a music score by A R Rahman . Pen Audio has also ventured into home production with the animated film Mahabharath'.

Prior to joining Pen Audio, Rajeev Sogani was associated Tips for more than two decades. He started his career at Tips as general manager, north India. He was a key figure in the management team of Tips and over the years, he was instrumental in the growth of the organisation. But the association turned sour when Tips started venturing into film production.
