Rahul Vaidya is Star's Superstar

MUMBAI: Runner up of Sony's first season of Indian Idol, Rahul Vaidya was adjudged Star Plus' first singing 'Superstar' this weekend.

Star claims that the musical reality show, Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, has topped the TRP charts week after week in its genre. Leading the race, Rahul Vaidya won the title with 216693 votes, while Abhijeet and Harshit came second and third with 202321 and 156291 votes.

Vaidya was presented with the trophy, a cheque for five million rupees and a super speed 'Flame' bike from TVS, by film actors Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapoor. Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar began in April with 18 musical prodigies from the biggest television musical reality shows. It was conceived in the quest to identify the best amongst the best, giving those who had missed the crown in their previous shows to bounce back to the top. The music director duo Vishal-Shekhar and Bollywood Director/Choreographer Farah Khan were the judges for the show and Mandira Bedi anchored the show.

The grand finale showcased a performance by singer Neeraj Sreedhar, an image makeover and enhancement with the help of Bipasha Basu, quizzes and more with Vidya Balan while the dance floor was brought alive by Shahid Kapoor.

Jo Jeeta Wohi superstar will be followed by the second season of Amul Star Voice of India (ASVOI) which goes on air from 18 June and will air every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm.
