Rahman's Rockstar steals it yet again

MUMBAI: Continuing its winning streak across major award functions this year, Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Rockstar’ bagged the top music honours at the 13th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, held in Singapore.

‘Rockstar’ won awards for Best Music Direction (Nadaan Parindey - AR Rahman), Best Lyrics (Nadaan Parindey – Irshad Kamil) and Best Playback Singer Male (Nadaan Parindey – Mohit Chauhan). The Best Playback Singer Female award was bagged by Shreya Ghoshal for ‘Bodyguard’ (Teri Meri).

Celebrating the magic of Indian Cinema, the Academy also honoured veterans like Rekha (Outstanding Achievement Award), Ramesh Sippy (Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema) and Zohra Segal (Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema). Norwegian actress and film director, Liv Ullman was honoured for her Outstanding Contribution to International Cinema.

Hosted by actors Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar, the evening witnessed performances by Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor, Prabhu Deva, Sonakshi Sinha, Bipasha Basu, Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.

The awards will broadcast on Star Plus by the first week of August.
